Varnishing
Important knowledge
- Chalk Paint is better with water-based varnish.
- Varnish should be applied the next day.
- For the first layer of varnish, dilute the varnish a little with water: 5-10% water - read more in the varnish package. Stir the varnish with water thoroughly and always with a stick.
- When mixing the varnish, it is not necessary to shake it, so that bubbles do not appear.
Working with varnish requires a tool:
- foam roller - flat surface;
- soft flat brush with synthetic bristles - uneven surface.
DO NOT PRESS firmly on the tool when painting, otherwise you risk damaging the painted surface.
On the varnish package read:
- after how long can the next layer be applied;
- when you can sand the surface between layers of varnish;
- when it is allowed to use lacquered objects.
Rooms and surfaces:
Bathroom
- In a room where only vapor settles, 2-3 layers of wax are sufficient for the surface. Each layer is applied after 5 days.
- Cover the cabinet under the sink with floor or furniture waterproof varnish in 3-4 layers.
Kitchen
- The wall near the work surface is covered with waterproof and wear-resistant floor varnish in 4-6 layers.
- The facade can be covered with 3 layers of wax, or with 4 layers of waterproof and wear-resistant floor or furniture varnish. It depends on how often (or rarely) you cook.
Floor, stairs - apply floor varnish.
Cover the railing with wax.
Tabletop: dining table, desk, children's or office, chest of drawers - cover with waterproof and wear-resistant furniture or floor varnish in at least 4 layers.
Garden furniture covers water-based and exterior varnish - for garden furniture with a UV filter.
Only furniture protected from insects and mold may be painted.
